Dear Families,
With many upcoming year-end activities, June is sure to be a very busy month. We look forward to Sports Day this week, upcoming class field trips, and final celebrations.
Some of you may have already heard that Mr. McGrory will not be returning to Cliff Drive in September, as he will be heading to another Delta school. You will be in good hands next school year with Mrs. Kelly Reeve, who is currently Principal at Heath Elementary. She is excited to be coming, and plans to visit the school in the next month to meet the staff and students!
SPORTS DAY: Friday, June 5th
Our annual Sports Day will take place this Friday, June 5th. This year’s theme is Beach Vacation! Please feel free to have your children wear any beach- or vacation-themed clothing they may have. Students should also wear whatever colour they have been assigned by their classroom teacher (red, green, blue, or yellow). The stations will be organized by the Grade 7 students and promise to be lots of fun! See notice sent home for details here: Sports Day Letter
This is a Hot Lunch Day: Panago, Chopped Leaf & Thrifty’s.
UPCOMING EVENTS & INFORMATION:
CLASS PLACEMENT:
During the month of June, the teaching and administration staff will be deciding on the preliminary placement of students for our next year’s class compositions. Previous academic success, social dynamics, placement history, gender balance, and overall classroom dynamics are all components for consideration when we make up the classes. The ultimate goal is to place your child in a classroom in which they will flourish academically and socially.
- If you know of circumstances of which you feel we should be aware when considering the placements, please forward your thoughts to Ms Harrison (not the classroom teacher) in writing or by email (lharrison@deltaschools.ca) by June 1st, 2026. This information will be shared with staff members and considered when the class lists are made and when they are finally confirmed, typically in September.
- If you have a request to make, it must include educational reasons that explain how your child will benefit. Please do not request individual teachers.
- Remember that we have many considerations in placing students and cannot guarantee to meet your request.
Understandably, the final decisions for student placements are left to the school administration.
Are You Moving?
If you know that you and your family will be moving out of the community this summer, please let us know as soon as you can. This information will be helpful as we plan the new school year. Thanks!
